Yes, the person referred does need to make purchase of $1000+ using the referral code they received, for the referral to count.
There are no exclusions for what you can purchase, however, your purchase must have a minimum value of $1000.

To begin, log in to your account on our loyalty program page and redeem your credits for a code. Add your items to your cart, then proceed to the checkout page, where you can paste the code and complete the payment (if there are any additional fees).

No need to worry! Your credits will stay in your account as long as the Upway Rewards program is active and running.
Your new credits should appear in your account within 10 days following your purchase. If they don't show up right away, don't worry! It sometimes takes a little time to process everything. We recommend checking your Rewards page after this period.
